Holiday Pretties (Louisiana Bound)

I pulled it off! The house is a wreck, but I managed to get four lampshade mobiles (and one bonus star) finished in time to send home with my aunt. She has a booth at a flea market in Shreveport, and she said that if I made them, she'd sell them. So here they are! (...in random order because my blogger app is not cooperating...)
I love that they are made from nearly all repurposed materials - junk lampshades, twigs, and a vintage "Twas the Night Before Christmas" book (it was ruined before I got it, so I just cut the stars from the parts that weren't colored on).

Sweet Birds Mobile

My friends and family loved Nora's mobile so much that I decided to make more! My aunt has a booth at a flea market in Shreveport, so I'm trying to get lots made to take to her at Thanksgiving. Here's the latest one.

On my day off from projects...

I wore myself out doing projects getting the house ready for a little party on Thursday, so I decided to take Friday off. I made it until 4:30 pm.

Lampshade: free from Aunt Paula
Scrapbook paper: 12 sheets for $2.99 on sale (double sided though)
Fabric: scraps from my stash

What's taking so long?

Well, I guess I'll have to finish the boys' week later.  Something very exciting happened between last November and now...
Owen got that sister he's been wanting!  And Jack?  Well, Jack got a sister, but he's not sure it's what he wanted.  He keeps asking when she's going to grow up.

This is Nora.  Nora May, actually.  And this is Nora meeting her Great-grandma May.  Special, right?
She's three weeks old today.  Nick and I have happily lost many hours of sleep in the last few weeks taking care of Baby Nora.  This is Nora snoozing on her Daddy's shoulder in the middle of the night.

Oh, Baby Nora.  You are just so sweet, and we are so happy we get to be your family.

A Wednesday in the Life of Jack and Owen

Bet you thought I'd given up and you'd never know what the boys did the rest of the week! Like I said before, I'm determined! They might be in 3rd and 1st grades when I finish this week, but I will finish! "This is where my gum went....down down down to my tummy!" On Wednesdays, I sometimes take Jack to the library for story time. On our way there, Jack reminded me why we have a "No Gum Until You Are Four" Rule. Before the story... Jack's craft. The theme of story time was The Farm, so we made a horse hat.
"What's for lunch?"Working on our centerpiece for dinner.
Our centerpiece.

Leaving for church, Owen got hurt getting into the car and needed an ice pack. I think he hit his hand on the basketball post, but I'm not sure.At Wednesday night church. At Chick-fila after church. Milkshakes! Time to get ready for bed! Owen made that crown in Bible class. He said that he was never going to take it off except for school, baths, and sleeping...he forgot by the next morning.
