My sweet Mema (of the previous post) is in the hospital. She passed out while cooking etouffee Wednesday night. The doctors are running all sorts of tests but have not determined why this happened - the usual suspects (low blood pressure, anemia, etc.) don't seem to be guilty.
This is no granny - when my stepdad suggested that she had overexerted herself in the yard, she said, "Well, Mark, I only hauled three loads to the road." She was serious, too - that was nothing for her.
